The Golden voice of Guinea shines in Chicago
by Afrique staff
The highly regarded West African singer, Sekouba Bambino, considered to be the "golden voice of guinea", performed in Chicago on a concert organized by the Ile Afrika Productions on June 15th. The show, which was disproportionately packed with beautiful Fulani women dressed in expensive looking African attires, was a celebration of the traditional Guinean music, which sekouba Bambino is considered to be a first rate representative. Dressed in elaborate and equally expensive looking African apparel, Bambino performed with an impressive skill level that befits his title as the "golden voice of Conakry". Still, there was an unfortunate two hour delay from when the show was supposed to have started at the North Winthrop Swift Specialty School.
The delay apparently disappointed some in the audience. However, when Bambino finally appeared at the stage, around 1AM, the large number of his apparent die-hard female fans seemed to have instantly forgiven and forgotten the long delay; they jumped to their feet and began dancing excitingly and shouting words of affection to the popular singer. The males in the audience, on the other hand, though there was a conspicuous shortage of them, also seemed very much pleased with the stage arrival of the great bambino, a beloved artist from the tropics, who undoubtedly deserves the appropriate title of "Golden Voice.
